05/20/2018 - We're going for it! There is a chance of rain, so plan accordingly. Bring a rain jacket, bags for phones, bags for cue sheets, or any other protection you may need from the elements. This won't be the first time we've had a wet Lock to Lock Ride! Be sure your tires are aired up and your chains are lubed. It's going to be a little muddy out there. Again, check-in is from 12:30pm-1:45pm at the Savannah Rapids. We'll be set up at the bottom parking lot next to the bathrooms. We'll see y'all in a bit!
05/19/2018 - The course is marked (yellow arrows as usual), grass is being cut, BBQ is getting smoked, tees are printed, bottles are ready for the first 200 people at check-in, so now all we need is the weather to cooperate.
As a reminder, check-in will be at the Savannah Rapids from 12:30pm-1:45pm, we'll have a pre-ride briefing at 1:45pm, and wheels will roll at 2:00pm.
If the weather does not cooperate, we'll put the rain plan in motion and all details will be posted here. Given the weather is a little sketchy, don't forget to bring a plastic bag to protect your phone and the course cue sheet (if needed) should the rain move in mid-ride. If you've never done the ride, scroll down to the link for the course Google map, and familiarize yourself with the course.
Let's keep the vibes positive and pull this thing off!
05/17/2018 - Be sure to stay tuned here for all Lock to Lock Ride updates. If the ride is cancelled, we will be having the cookout at Julian Smith Casino. We'll distribute all pre-registrant's event tees and have fun hanging out with all of our biking buddies! Hopefully, will be riding though! The final call will be made here on Sunday morning.
05/16/2018 - Yes, the forecast is not looking good. If the rain prevents us from riding, we'll still have the cookout, distribute everyone's event tees, and hangout at the New Lock & Dam Park (not Savannah Rapids Pavilion). The final call will be made by Sunday morning. Keep your fingers crossed and continue watching this area for all ride related updates. Again, t-shirts are only guaranteed for pre-registrants. So register by Thursday at 6pm!
26th Annual Lock to Lock Ride
Sunday, May 20, 2018
Grab your bike and celebrate National Bike Month at the 26th Annual Lock to Lock Ride!
Ride 37 or 18.5 miles along the scenic Historic Augusta Canal Area on hard packed dirt and asphalt roads with no hills. It's the perfect ride for all of your family and friends!
The route starts at the Savannah Rapids and you'll ride to the New Lock and Dam, with rest stops along the way serving Powerade and snacks to keep you going. We will also have roaming bike support courtesy of SORBA-CSRA should rider assistance be needed. Once at the New Lock and Dam, there will be a delicious mid-ride lunch featuring pulled pork by competition BBQ'er, Waylon Walker, and a raffle with some great prizes. After grabbing a bite to eat, it's back up to the Savannah Rapids as you watch the beautiful sunset over the Augusta Canal. And yes, the ever popular Sno-Cone stop will be in place on the ride back at the Augusta Commons. And once you've completed the full distance the guys and gals from Wheel Movement CSRA will be passing out cold Yoo-Hoo, the perfect recovery drink!
All pre-registrants receive a commemorative Lock to Lock T-Shirt and the first 200 people to sign-in on event day will receive a Specialized Lock to Lock Ride water bottle. Sign up now and join the fun!
